I think the whole concept of the word pagan is based in prejudice and discrimination. The churches have always used the word pagan as a derogatory term. Did Christianity’s non-believers call themselves pagans? Hell no. Pagan is meant to be an insult.

The Catholic church and then later churches adopted this tactic of discrimination borrowing from the Jewish practice of discrimination calling non-jews Goys.

The terms are still used with the underlying feeling embedded in the thinking attached to these words that the people they describe are outcasts and wrong for who they are.
