There is an answer but I haven’t been able to make myself accept it or conform to it.

Medium readers like to read about how to write their way into money or how to write. They like reading the same story, slightly repackaged, over and over again. But that’s not all.

Many readers eat up tech. Programming and coding rakes in the reads. And if you write about blowjobs, penis size, or how to sex you might get the bucks.

Of course there are the 'How To’ freaks. Then, there are the remainder of readers who, like us, write and read rants, fiction, poetry, etc. But we don’t rank with click bait first mentioned.

Perhaps we have to change our writing ways and adapt. Or we can change our expectations because Medium doesn’t look like they give a hoot and maybe they shouldn’t.
